Prompts, the Process of Art & an a-Musing Call to Participate

Culture Days and the North Shore Writers’ Association

Presents  ‘Thanks A Lot Express-OH!’

Saturday, September 27, 2014   10-12noon

At North Van City Library, 120 W. 14th St.,  North Vancouver

Prompts, prompts and more prompts!

The process of art is one of observing, absorbing, reflecting, reacting and presenting.  Sometimes that requires a prompt—a gentle reminder—a cue.

Share your Muse.  For the Greeks, the Muses were the key to the good life conveying friendship and riches.  The Muses were more than pretty goddess faces, but encompassed knowledge (up until that point) — Science, Geography, Mathematics, Philosophy, Inspiration, Drama and Art. Classicists threw in improvisational song, writing, music and dance.

That’s the creative essence of ‘Thanks A Lot Express-OH!’  On the spot, get set— doodle, draw, design, compose.  Empower your creative self.  Let the process unfold collaboratively and spontaneously.

Workshop leader, Joan Boxall, will provide the prompts and encourage participants to talk turkey in this two-hour workshop.  (Thanksgiving is the theme.)

Writers, visual and performing artists will sit together (and yes, this means YOU) and jointly produce an artful word feast—a word-full art fest.  Sponsor, Opus Art Supplies , North Vancouver, has provided colourful felts, paper tablecloths, and creative art cards.

Let the rhythm of word and art move you.  Participants will a-Muse each other— observing, absorbing, reflecting, and reacting to prompts— and in fruition—enjoy the process and the outcomes.
